2 killed, 1 injured in Tulare shooting

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two people are dead and another injured in an alleyway shooting in Tulare.

It happened just west of H Street, near Cross Avenue, a few blocks south of Centennial Park.

A call came into Tulare Police dispatch at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, reporting shots fired in the 400 block of north H street.

"Officers responded to the area and determined that there were three subjects down with gunshot wounds in the west alley of that location," Sgt. Timothy Ramirez with the Tulare County Police Department said.

They rendered first aid until emergency medical services responded.

Matthew Osborne, 34, and 23-year-old Jodeci Marcella were brought to Tulare Regional Medical Center, where they died.

The third victim is in fair condition at Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

Police aren't releasing his name or age.

And aren't releasing any information on suspects, a motive, or what lead up to the shooting, but say they are actively following leads.

"I don't know if they were in the wrong place at the wrong time or if they were targeted," Ramirez said. "Tt's either personal or something random," Ramirez said.

"It's not an uncommon thing to have trouble in this area," resident Christopher Butler said.

Butler goes to Grace Missionary Baptist Church on north H Street. After hearing about what happened, he decided to check in on some women who live at the church, near the spot of the shooting.

"They heard the gunshots, and stuff like that," he said. "And they heard loud voices after that, and then shortly after the sirens."

Butler says gunshots are common around this area, even after Wednesday night services. So, the church has stepped up security measures, installing cameras and motion sensor lights.

But, unfortunately, he doesn't think their surveillance will show what happened Thursday night.
