VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Visalia police have arrested a man accused of committing eight armed robberies over the course of a week. Investigators believe the suspect robbed five businesses in Visalia, one in Exeter, and two in unincorporated areas of Tulare County before he was caught.
This is the face of a man accused of robbing eight different businesses in just nine days. Adam Johnson, 32, is in custody for a string of armed robberies at the end of June.
"When he first started, the armed robberies were at night, then subsequently started happening during the daytime. He got brave if you will," said Visalia Police Capt. Perry Phipps.
Johnson allegedly stormed into places like Rite Aid and Holiday Inn with a handgun and got away with cash. Phipps says a surveillance image from the Visalia Holiday Inn spurred tips from the public that ultimately led to Johnson's arrest.
"We got several of these where they knew this person. Some of them were incorrect. In this case the person was right about the suspect," said Phipps.
The investigation crossed over county and city lines as Johnson hit places in Tulare County, Exeter and Visalia. He faces charges in each of those jurisdictions.
"At this time it does look like he was acting alone; we don't have any information that says otherwise but based on the information that we have," said Phipps.
He says they're still investigating his motive behind the crimes.
Johnson was booked into jail. He is facing eight armed robbery charges -- all of which are felonies.
