Jason Berry is out of jail Friday night after being released for the second time. His arrest came after he was found to be in possession of stolen items.
Burglary detectives first took Berry into custody on January 6th. He was released on the 13th. That same afternoon he was arrested again and set free one day later. Jail leaders said he falls within their criteria for early release and was therefore let go.
Burglary victims we talked to were angry to hear about Berry's release. Top administrators at the Sheriff's Office plan to close three floors of the jail to cut costs.
That could mean releasing more than one thousand inmates over the next few months.
