Victory medals now belong to University High School's Academic Decathlon Team. Fresno County's first place trophy sits in the front office, after students pulled off a huge upset on Saturday.
Edison High School won the competition for the past 13 years. However University High could be the new team to beat at the state competition after putting up top scores.
Students compete in subjects like Language and Literature, Art, Economics, and Science. Some University students made big sacrifices by hitting the books for up to seven hours a day over the summer.
Eric Hendey had University's top score. The team is made of three A students, three B students and three C students -- each member overcame their own set of challenges.
Now team members will be sharpening their skills and hoping to win it all at state competition in March.
