The league of Mexican American women awarded 13 scholarships Saturday during its 35th annual awards ceremony and brunch.
Recipients were selected based on a number of criteria including GPA and community involvement.
"The amounts of their scholarships vary from $500 to $1,000. But since its inception, we've given out just under $350,000 total in scholarships. We're really proud of that," Toni Munoz-Woods said.
Much of the scholarship money awarded Saturday was raised during the organizations fashion show, held every November.
