Late in the afternoon Scott Bellefouille and his team tuck the last of the hotdogs into brown paperbags. Bellefouille prays the three hundred hot dogs and three hundred bottles of water will be enough to meet the needs of those on the street.
Bellefouille prays that God will bring these people hope and that they will see there is a way out. His "Our Dog Ministry" wastes no time.... the group fans out along Santa Clara street in downtown Fresno offering a dog, some water and healthy dose of hope.
One homeless man, Joe Ramos said, "Well we appreciate it so much and god bless you man, not too many people come over here to give us something."
Scott Bellefouille knows how it feels to be homeless he's been out here for months at a time, high on drugs or drowning in alcohol. But someone offered him hope and he's been clean and sober for almost 20 months. Now he wants to pass along that hope to someone else. He says a lot of his recovery is service work to help others.
It was a small group in his newly adopted church that first handed out hotdogs to the homeless. But Bellefouille says he knew God wasn't finished.
Bellefouille says, "It's not any church or organization it's just something that god put on my heart."
He uses the little money he has and individual donations to purchase the hotdogs, water and supplies every month. Somehow there's always enough, enough dogs and more than enough hope. Once in awhile, the blessing of hope is returned.
One homeless man told Bellefouille, "You can do it. You can do it. I see the glory in your face. I love man. I love you. I love you too."
