Kids who live in the Lowell Community and near Kearney and Fresno Streets now have new covered playgrounds.
The Lowell Playground is built beneath an overpass which helps keep the equipment cooler. Action News tested equipment exposed to the sun and picked up readings of nearly 120 degrees.
First Five Fresno County partnered with the city -- donating $500 thousand. A third playground is scheduled to open later this year.
