Family members of Sebastian Ruiz say he had just ridden his bicycle out of his driveway and into the dirt shoulder of Road 24 when a car slammed into him. Sebastian's friend was riding his bike just behind him and saw what happened. He says he tried to help as the car sped off.
Bobby James Wright said, "I ran over there trying to get him off his stomach and everything and make sure he's still alive. So I moved his shirt and put my hand on his chest and his heart was still beating."
Witnesses told investigators the suspect had been driving with a beer in his hand just before the crash. He's described as a man in his early 20's.
The car officers are looking for is a silver or gray sedan with a dark gray stripe. It likely has visible damage to the front. Anyone with information is asked to call the highway patrol's Madera sector at 559-675-1025.
