MMA fighter supports student against bullying

FRESNO, Calif.

It's an update to a story Action News first brought you last week.

Mixed martial arts fighter Daniel Puder met with 13-year-old Marco Melgoza Sunday afternoon to talk about the teens efforts to end bullying at his school.

On Wednesday -- Melgoza and his father marched in front of Desmond Middle School educating parents about bullying.

Puder reached out to Marco after seeing the story on Action News.

He says he, too, was teased as a kid and now, he wants to begin a nationwide campaign against bullying.

"I'm a real sensitive kid. It does hurt and it gets me angry and upset, but not that upset where I want to hurt myself, but to where I want to make a difference," Melgoza said.

"It needs to stop. We need to take a stand. We need to stand up and get on board with a program," Puder said.

Puder says he and Marco will go to school Monday, to talk to school administrators about bullying.

He invited Marco and his father to attend an MMA fight in Fresno Sunday.
