The race will wind through Fresno and Clovis on Sunday morning. Several main streets will be closed, including portions of Friant Road, Shepherd, and downtown Clovis.
1,000 additional runners signed up for the marathon this year compared to 2009. And participants are coming from all over the United States. A total of 40-states will be represented and 500 cities nationwide. Coordinators say they worked all year to recruit runners near and far.
To help runners along the route, several medical stations will be set up on the course.
