The shooting happened just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon near the former Gottschalks building on east side of the mall.
Police say three men in a red car pulled up to a man in the parking lot -- and one of them shot at him.
The victim was struck in the leg and an ambulance transported him to the hospital where he's expected to recover from his injury.
Investigators say the suspects drove away from the scene.
