The 18th Annual Cesar Chavez Community Celebration and March was held Saturday with about 75 people marching down Cesar Chavez Blvd., heading to the Holmes Playground.
Organizers say they gather each year to remember the farm worker, labor rights leader, and community organizer and continue to make progress for all minorities.
"He really did promote higher education, he promoted community events, he promoted camaraderie, union rights and labor rights. But he was also about social improvement and about people having equal rights across all levels and sectors," Maria Sofia Corona said.
Saturday's event included lunch and a program about Chavez's life.
It was put on by the Comite Cesar Chavez Group.
