Michelle Cole stood up in a Fresno County Courtroom as she pleaded no contest Tuesday morning. By pleading no contest she could have faced up to a year in county jail.

Judge Dennis Peterson said the overcrowding at the jail played a major role in his decision not to put Cole into custody.

Cole will be on house arrest for six months and wear an electronic GPS monitoring system to track her every move.

The CHP said Cole bought alcohol for Sylvia Garay and her two friends July of last year. Garay crashed the SUV she was driving and a Greyhound bus hit them. A total of six people died in the crash.
