Authorities say 25 people had to be evacuated from the building so firefighters could put out the flames. Clovis Fire says one person was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.
Authorities say the flames charred only one apartment unit, but the damage could have been worse.
"The fortunate thing here is that the sprinklers did it's job.. Kept the fire contained to the one unit," said Chad Fitzgerald with the Clovis Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Authorities have not said how much damage was caused by the flames.
