The homeowner said his neighbor alerted him to the fire. It's not clear yet what sparked the blaze, but it started in the back of the home. Crews said the flames burned big and fast. It was difficult to get fire fighters into the home. Nearly the entire structure was burning when fire crews arrived.
"There was a terrific amount of fire. We had power lines down. Initially, fire fighters were having trouble gaining entry into the home and getting headway on this fire," said Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Rich Cabral.
The home owner, his wife and their dog were able to make it out of the home safely.
No fire fighters were injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
