Action News first reported on Susanna Espinoza, 27, last Friday. Doctors recently told her she only has a few months left to live because she's in the end stages of cancer. Her last wish is to get married to her fiancé Brandon Martinez.
The donations for this wedding have overwhelmed the family. But a wedding planner stepped in to help them out.
"I knew it would [come together], but I didn't think it was going to be like this," Espinoza said. "It's great, we have a big community that came together and we want to thank everybody for that."
She has so much to be thankful for, despite so much to be upset with. On Christmas Eve doctors told Espinoza her leukemia had returned a fourth time since 2009. Only this time they said there was nothing they could do for her.
Brandon Martinez proposed to Espinoza shortly after the bad news was delivered. "Everything's coming together," Martinez said. "I'm happy how she's happy. That's what I wanted the whole time is for her to have her happy day. And it looks like it's going to come true."
On Friday the family rehearsed the wedding. The ceremony will be held at the Irwin Street Inn in Hanford.
Gilbert Medina, the property manager, said when he and the owner heard about Espinoza's situation, they knew they had to help. "It's Hanford, it's a small community, [and] it's known for that, Lemoore same as well," Medina said. "When there's tragedy the community always comes together."
Another big event in Espinoza's life -- she was baptized on Thursday at a church in Lemoore. "I'm just happy," she said.
Espinoza and Martinez will get married at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. And just about everything they have for the wedding has been donated.
