Three passengers in the car were detained at the scene on Ashlan and Angus but police are still looking for the driver.
Investigators arrested one of the passengers for having outstanding warrants on his record.
Fortunately the garage was empty and the person living there was not injured. But neighbors told us the crash woke them up in the middle of the night.
"All I heard was a bunch of yelling and then boom! And I just like woke up went to my kids room because my girls room is right there and I just made sure my girls were ok," Veronica Benavides said. "And then I've seen a bunch of sheriff's just everybody told me to stay inside so I stayed inside and then all I heard was a bunch of yelling. Get down. Get down. That's all."
In an interesting twist, sheriff's deputies with the help of Fresno Police got the owner of the SUV to come claim it. She was arrested for having outstanding warrants on her record so she was also taken into custody.
Detectives are still looking for the driver who crashed into the garage. Right now he's facing felony hit and run as well as evasion charges.
