The Fresno County Probation Department oversees thousands of offenders. On Saturday officers searched for some of those offenders who are considered high-risk and are evading law-enforcement.

"The community as well as the offenders need to know that we are very proactive, we are going to get out there we are going to do what we can do to ensure we keep the community safe," Chief of Probation Linda Penner said.

On Saturday more than a 100 officers from a number of agencies partnered up to find those who dipped off law-enforcement's radar.
In some cases the officers came out with nothing. In other homes they found offenders who they say are not keeping up with their terms of release.

Throughout the day the sweep uncovered people with a past of violence and drug use.
"We will find guns, drugs, people who were in child endangerment kind of issues depending on what we find in the home. It's all about trying to make the community safe by making sure that people who shouldn't be on the streets, aren't," probation officer Kirk Haynes said.
Operation safe streets goes through 9 p.m. Saturday night.
At last check probation officers had made 13 felony arrests, found knives and also uncovered ammunition.
