Living in the Shadows

FRESNO, California

The art exhibit titled "Living in the Shadows," is based on the work of nearly 700 McLane students during the past school year.

The exhibit on display at Arte Americas in Downtown Fresno includes poetry, landscapes, sculpture, music and drama, as well as the personal stories of McLane High students.

It also includes a mixed-media art project depicting a replica of the U.S. Mexico border fence and allows viewers to follow the journey of an undocumented immigrant through the hostile desert.

The project involved seven teachers and encouraged cross-curricular learning in art, English language art, theater, digital media, Spanish and biology.

"Living in the Shadows" exhibit on display now through August.
