The chief investigating officer explained to jurors the details of the crime scene and his interviews with the suspects.
Suspect Jarrad Beard told police the way in which he angled the gun -- as he fired shots behind him while he ran. Defense attorneys claim the brothers shot the victims in self-defense.
The defense also asked the investigator to offer his opinion of how the younger defendant Jerry Beard acted after his interrogation.
Defense attorney: "Did he show any signs of remorse to you?"
Sgt. Paul Cervantes: "Oh yes, he appeared to be quite saddened by the whole thing?"
Defense attorney: "Were his eyes moist?"
Sgt. Paul Cervantes: "I think his eyes were moist."
Testimony in the trial continues Thursday.
