A group of Marines and countless volunteers have been there since Friday collecting toys for children in need this holiday season.
Not even light to heavy rain throughout the day here kept people from stopping by and dropping off toys. More than 8,000 toys have been collected, breaking last years record.
The rain didn't seem to dampen the jubilant atmosphere at the toys for tots drop off site at River Park.
"You see a lot of cars coming through, I recognize a lot of faces that are dropping off toys, either way, it's been a great event so far," Bank of America community volunteer Eddie Zamora said.
Volunteers who braved the rain for hours Sunday afternoon broke out in cheers when a car filled with toys pulled up.
"We just went and filled the car up today and shopped. And we hope to make a lot of little kids happy this year," Brenda Lavell of Clovis said.
People of all ages kept on coming in the rain, not minding getting a little wet.
"We decided we should come out, teach them a little bit about giving something back and not always wanting what they want," Gaylene Thomas of Fresno said.
Marines and volunteers have been manning the site since Friday. Initially there was some concern the weather would keep people from turning out.
"I wasn't quite sure looking at the weather coming on, and people have been coming out in droves , and the weather hasn't stopped them and it hasn't stopped us," William Cardinal of the U.S. Marine Corps. said.
As of 1 p.m. toy donations surpassed last year's record. More than 8,000 toys were dropped off. All will brighten up kids throughout Fresno County this holiday.
There is still plenty of time left if you'd like to make a donation. Other drop off locations throughout the Central Valley will be collecting toys until Christmas Eve.
