SPCA offers discount on pet adoption for the holidays

FRESNO, Calif.

"I seen it on TV, the dog and I liked the color and we need a dog and we got one," Daniel Cedio from Fresno said.

Daniel Cedio and his father Juan came early to adopt Cowboy, a Chihuahua terrier mix featured on Action News AM live. They say they can't wait to take him home and spoil him.

"My wife is going to love that dog," Juan Cedio from Fresno said.

The Central California S.P.C.A says this December they have had almost double the number of adoptions compared to last year.

"You know 400 plus adoptions that's pretty high for our organization at least. It's unprecedented. We're really happy to find them all good homes," Walter Salvari with the Central Valley SPCA said.

Due to reduced adoption fees and thanks to the generous donation of the Larry Bitter Estate and the Home for the Holidays Campaign the Central California S.P.C.A.

Carol Reimer of Fresno says she has been looking for just the right cat at the S.P.C.A

"If you're looking for a good companion and you find one that loves you and I think he does. yah he does. I think we're going to be pals," Reimer said.

And SPCA officials hope to find more animals forever homes this holiday season.

The central California SPCA holiday pet adoption special runs throughout the entire month of December. Dogs are just $25 and cats are $15.

Price includes: spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, one dose topical flea/tick control, routine de-worming, rabies vaccine, and city dog license (dogs only).
