HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Hanford city council voted 3 to 2 to allow movie theaters to be built outside of the downtown area.
The zone change and general plan amendment will allow for theaters to be built in other commercial areas throughout the city. The previous plan caused problems for the theater at the Hanford mall which was grandfathered in. It could not expand or upgrade its facilities.
Hanford's city manager says there are no current theater proposals outside of downtown.
