4.0 and above student wins a car at the Big Fresno Fair

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local student is the winner of a new car -- all thanks to his great grades.

Jimmy Xiong, a Central West freshman, is among more than 7,000 students who were honored at the 4.0 and above program. Local organizations raffle away $60-thousand in scholarships for the Fresno County kids who all maintain a GPA of 4.0 or higher.

But the lucky grand prize winner got a 2015 Toyota Corolla. "I did not expect winning this. I just came just in case I won something. I did not expect to win a car," said Jimmy Xiong, grand prize winner.

Jimmy is 14-years-old and can't drive yet. But he said he's excited to drive it in a couple years when he's old enough.
