FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The newest branch in the Fresno County Public Library system opened Saturday.

Several children and local leaders took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Betty Rodriguez Regional Library.

The facility at Cedar and Shields Avenues replaces the more than 40-year-old Cedar-Clinton branch.

Officials say it has twice the space -- with plenty of room for studying, meetings, and modern technology.

"We even have an innovation lab, 3D printer, robotics kit," said county librarian Laurel Prysiazny. "And all kinds of other 21st Century technology the staff will teach people."

The library is the first Fresno County branch to be named after a Latina. Betty Rodriguez was a longtime community volunteer and library supporter.
