Exeter man killed in Strathmore car crash

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol said a 79-year-old man was killed and an 80-year-old woman was injured after their car veered off the road and into a tree.

Investigators say Roger Plata was driving south on Highway 65 near Avenue 196 in Strathmore when, for an unknown reason, the car veered off the road, through a ditch, and into an olive tree.

Roger Plata sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Shirley Marie Plata suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia.

Investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
