FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The 43rd Chicano Youth Conference was held Saturday at Fresno State.
Students from all across the Valley and central coast attended the event. Each year students are invited to learn about culture, higher education, careers and leadership opportunities.
Organizer say it's done to show students how to empower themselves through education and the various opportunities available to them. "The purpose of today is essentially to get students to engage in how to pursue higher education," recruitment counselor Jesse Farias said. "And what's available to them once they do arrive here and the resources that are valuable to them once they arriver here to Fresno State or the university of their choice."
The event also included workshops on community colleges and other UC system partners.
