MENDOTA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide near Stamoules and 6th Street in Mendota.
Investigators say a woman in her 40s was shot around 10 p.m. Thursday in the driveway of a home. An officer with the Mendota Police Department heard the shots and ran over. The officer tried to help the woman, but she died.
The case is now being investigated by the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. There were no witnesses. Investigators are speaking with neighbors to find out what they heard or saw. At this time, deputies are trying to find out what the woman was doing in the driveway when she was killed.
