SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- A search is underway for thieves who broke into a Newhall preschool, vandalized the property and stole educational items, including hand puppets.



Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's deputies responded to the school on the 24600 block of Walnut Street on Aug. 26 after school staff arrived to find paint splashed all over the walls, fence and cement floor. A trash can filled with beer cans was found on site, officials said.



Hand puppets were stolen from a preschool in Newhall on Aug. 26, 2014.

A textured domino set, a camera, microphone, batteries, and an iPod charger were also stolen along with the hand puppets.



Anyone with information was asked to call Los Angeles Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
