Inmate captured after escaping Miramonte Conservation Camp

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities said Steve Conde was apprehended after returning to the camp and being discovered by custody staff.

Investigators said 35-year-old Steve Conde, a minimum security inmate from San Diego County, walked away from the inmate camp he was working with sometime after 6:30 Thursday night.

After his capture, he was re-housed at the Sierra Conservation Center in Tuolumne County.

They say he is currently serving a six year sentence for gang related vandalism.
