MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A murder suspect has been caught in the North Valley. Merced police arrested Fidel Ortega, 31, around 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Officers say the victim was working at a home on G Street near Donna Drive when he got into an argument with Ortega, who then stabbed him multiple times. The 41-year-old man died at the scene. His name has not been released.
Ortega ran away but was found hours later during a door-to-door search at a home on 18th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. He was booked into the Merced County Jail on homicide charges.
