FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters are often seen rescuing pets from burning buildings, but down in the South Valley they had a different type of animal rescue.

A local resident took this puppy to fire station 41 in East Bakersfield on Friday. The little dog got its head stuck through the rim of a car tire.

Kern County firefighters put their extrication skills to the test and managed to free the puppy using cooking oil.

The pet looked a little scared, but is now doing just fine.
