FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Traffic is now back open on Highway 99 going northbound near Belmont after the bomb squad was called to the area Sunday morning.
Authorities say a CalTrans cleaning crew thought they had found a possible pipe bomb during a routine clean-up of the center divider.
Crews immediately alerted Fresno Police who dispatched their bomb squad.
Two lanes were blocked off on the 99 Highway for at least two hours.
Bomb squad officials determined after analyzing the device that it was not a bomb and instead, a construction worker's briefcase.
