A driver running from police caused a crash that killed multiple people

LEAGUE CITY, TX -- The League City police department has confirmed six people were killed after a police chase ended in a crash Sunday night.

League City and Dickinson police officers left the scene of a horrific crash around 3:30am this morning.

The deadly crash happened at the intersection of FM 646 and Ohio Street. Witnesses reported seeing four hearses arrive to the crash around 1am to remove the bodies.

Officers said a police pursuit ended with the crash. Those who live nearby told Eyewitness News a Dickinson police officer was following a Dodge Durango. They claim the Durango was speeding on Ohio when it slammed into an Isuzu Rodeo at FM 646. The impact so intense, the Rodeo was pushed into a ditch and knocked down power lines.

Power was restored by 4am. No identities of those killed have been released.
