Bronny James made his long-awaited collegiate debut on Sunday, less than five months after suffering cardiac arrest in July.
He came off the bench and played under a minutes restriction in his debut againstLong Beach State.
James had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 17 minutes. After stealing the ball with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game, James was fouled and had the chance to push USC's lead to three points. Instead, he split the free throws, and Long Beach State scored on the next possession to send the game to overtime, where it pulled away to win 84-79.
The USC Trojans announced a sellout and, hours before tipoff, the student section line wrapped around Galen Center in anticipation of James' first game. The packed house gave him a standing ovation as he checked in.
