San Diego Padres infielder Luis Arraez said he will not play in Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game because of an injured left thumb.

"I need the rest," Arraez told reporters on Sunday.

Arraez, who has been dealing with the thumb injury since last month, said he will still travel to Arlington, Texas, to participate in the events surrounding the game.

Arraez was selected to the All-Star Game for a third consecutive season. He made it with the Minnesota Twins in 2022 and the Miami Marlins in 2023.

This season, Arraez is batting .310 with 122 hits, second in the majors to Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals, who has 125.
