Shooting at Visalia house party leaves man dead

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Visalia house party came to a deadly end early Sunday morning when a man walked up and killed someone at the home.

Police closed off the streets for several hours to collect evidence as they tried to figure out who did it and why. Witnesses say the suspect came up to the house at about 4 a.m. He pulled a gun and fired off more than one shot, hitting Hector Chavez Jr.

Chavez was transported to the hospital where he later died.

"Whether he was the intended target or the residence was or somebody else at the residence was or something, we're not sure yet," Sgt. Kevin Kroeze said.

Police are interviewing several people from the party as they try to track down the suspect.
