Merced crews prepare for upcoming winter storm

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- One site, after another, Merced crews are working to clear the roads before another round of rain hits the area.

Dean Myer is a tree trimmer for Merced. He's working on clearing a tree limb that damaged a fence during Thursday's storm.

Both the city and county have been clearing storm drains to prevent flooding, Mike North says they'll have crews on standby throughout the weekend.

Rain showers are expected until Saturday evening. In the meantime, city crews will work on clearing the gutters and will be working through the storm to clear potential hazards.

Public works is encouraging people not to wait, if they see a tree that could be a hazard, call public works and they'll send a crew to take care of the problem.

They're also asking drivers to keep an eye out for temporary road closures, and flooding that we could see Friday night and Saturday.
