Update: Beef Recall

March 6, 2008 4:15:19 PM PST
New information about the nationwide recall of millions of pounds of beef. Several Valley restaurants are on the state's list of businesses that may have received some of the recalled meat.

Last month more than 140 million pounds of meat from the Hallmark/Westlands slaughterhouse in Chino was declared unfit to eat by the U.S. Department of Agriculture because of inhumane practices.

20 school districts and dozens of restaurants around the Valley are on the list of places that received the beef including various "Jack in the Box", "In and Out" and "Taco Bell" restaurants.

None of them have any of the recalled meat on hand. Many of the restaurants received the meat from a third party vendor that bought some of their meat from Hallmark, Westland. There are no reports of illness from eating the recalled beef.
