Merced Officer Impersonation Arrest

Fresno, CA, USA Authorities say 26-year old Matthew Thomas Story -- went to Merced Community Hospital on Monday night for a broken ankle. They say he told a nurse he was an undercover detective who injured his ankle while chasing a suspect.

But when nurses called police to double-check, the man admitted he was not telling the truth.

Story was later booked in Merced County Jail on a charge of impersonating an officer.
