Jackson's body preserved in plastic?

The death of Michael Jackson has raised new speculation about his reported desire to be preserved in plastic, by German doctor Gunther Von Hagens, creator of the popular "Body Worlds" exhibits. The London Daily Mail quotes Von Hagens as saying an agreement was reached months ago with representatives of the Jackson family to plastinate Jackson's body.

It would reportedly be placed next to his pet chimpanzee, "Bubbles," who is on display at a Body Worlds exhibit in London.

The exhibition is at the O2 Center, the same venue where Jackson was due to perform starting next month. Von Hagens told the newspaper that one of Michael's final requests was to be reunited with Bubbles.

There's been no announcement yet from the Jackson family about the disposition of his body, and no confirmation of the Daily Mail's story.

In March, several British newspapers reported that Jackson representatives had contacted Von Hagens about his interest in being plastinated. Since then, it has been reported that Jackson's name is on a long list of people volunteering to become part of the Body Worlds exhibits.

The exhibits have traveled the world, attracting large crowds. They feature bodies preserved in plastic, displaying muscles, internal organs and other features of the human anatomy.

It's believed that Jackson was also interested in having his body frozen, hoping he could later be returned to life. However, that option requires almost immediate freezing after death.
