Fresno resident is heading to help deaf tornado victims

FRESNO, Calif.

ABC30 caught up with Sheila Van Eaton Wednesday morning at the Fresno airport.

The Fresno resident grew up in Joplin, Missouri and says seeing the devastation motivated her to go back and help with a special skill she has: translating for the deaf.

Sheila Van Eaton said, "Most of my friends are ok... But I have friends who are deaf and they can't hear the sirens so I don't know if they're ok or not"

Sheila says she plans to stay in Missouri for at least the next three weeks.

You can also help the relief efforts in the Midwest... by texting the word "Red Cross" to 90999 on your cell phone. A $10.00 donation will be added to your bill.
