Visalia police arrested Laura Castro and Omar Licon on suspicion of harming their son.
Visalia police say the 7-month-old baby boy is now in critical condition at Children's Hospital Central California.
Police have arrested the little boy's parents.24-year-old Laura Castro and 23 -year-old Omar Licon. Police responded to Kaweah Delta Medical Center's emergency room at about five in the evening on Friday after a child was admitted for severe head injuries.
Investigators say the babies parents were also at the hospital. Police say their explanation on how the baby got hurt just didn't add up.
"When it involves a child it is especially important that we respond in a timely manner and do everything we can to get to the bottom of the truth of what happens," Lt. Brian Winter of the Visalia Police Department said.
Licon and Castro live in this Visalia neighborhood. Licon is being held at the Tulare County Jail and Castro is at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility.
Licon and Castro were arrested for suspicion of attempted murder and felony child endangerment. At this time the cause of the child's injuries are still under investigation.
