Ampersand Ice Cream owners feeding the community that helped fund their dream.
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A new ice cream shop opened its doors on Memorial Day, bringing its gourmet flavors to Central Fresno.
Ampersand (&) Ice Cream is now open across from Fresno High School on North Echo Avenue. The couple behind it, Jeff and Amelia Bennett, have been perfecting new ice cream flavors like "strawberry balsamic" and "whiskey caramel" in their home kitchen for months.
But after a successful Kickstarter campaign and months of hard work, the couple is now bringing the fun flavors to the community that helped them get started. Amelia Bennett: "We're here for the community and they helped build us. This whole place was really built by friends and family. We had friends build countertops from Cedar Lanes bowling alley wood, people do menus signs. So it's fun to look around and see our community's fingerprints all over it."
Ampersand creates all of its own ice cream on site -- ensuring an all natural and fresh product. If you'd like to try some of the tasty creations, the shop is open every day from 11 a-m to 11 p-m. Their opening day was such a success, they sold out of nearly all of their flavors.
