News crews learned Darren Kawamoto recently moved to Oakdale from Fresno and they went to his home to try to interview him about failing to properly register as a sex offender.
The reporters say Kawamoto began yelling and shoving them and threatened to cut their throats with a box cutter; he added that if he saw the footage on air, he would come after them.
Officers arrested Kawamoto on four counts of assault.
