Firefighters said the fire started when a chemical sprayed on a bin of almonds got wet from the rain. A worker had tried to put out the fire with a garden hose. There are no fire hydrants near the plant, so crews brought in water tenders to fight the flames.
Firefighters expect the fire to continue to burn through the morning.
