"I think that it speaks a lot that he's no longer in the Washington search. You know this is the season. So you never know when the next time is going to come along," said Boeh.
Defensive coordinator Dan Brown said Hill is committed to the New Mexico Bowl and recruiting for the 2009 season.
"Sure we haven't done everything and he hasn't done everything he wants to do and that's probably why he's staying," said Brown. Some Fresno State students believe Hill has bolstered school pride.
"He does a lot of great things for this town and I think everybody loves him and we're glad for him to stay as long as he wants to," said Sara Meadows.
But some students think it's time for a head coaching change.
"I seem him as a pretty good coach but I think Fresno State could go in a different direction to make the team better," said senior Christin Vispera.
An exclusive Action News poll conducted by Survey USA asked 500 Valley adults how they would rate the coaches performance:
35% said excellent.
35% good.
21% fair.
4% poor.
Fresno State President John Welty told Action News he was delighted Hill was staying on as coach. The New Mexico Bowl is Ddecember 20th at 11:30 am. The Bulldogs opponent has not been officially revealed, but Fresno State expects to play Colorado State.
