Ortiz was arrested back in January. Officers pulled his car over for a traffic violation.
He was given a sobriety test and his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.
The Merced Police Department says /*Detective Hector Ortiz*/ has been placed on leave pending the investigation.
