Officers said the boy and his friend found a loaded 9 millimeter in a barrel, stored in the garage of a friend's home. Police said the boys played with the gun, it went off and a bullet went through the 12-year-old's hand and fractured his wrist.
Police said the weapon did not have a gun lock and was not stored in a secure place. Officers arrested the gun's owner, who is the father of the boy's friend.
