A woman told officers she went to Gonzales' apartment where he assaulted her and forced her and his wife to fight. She says he eventually let her go and she went to police.
Detectives say when they went to the apartment they found Gonzales' wife beaten and bruised.
Police say they learned Gonzales had been holding his wife prisoner since late this summer. They say he had tortured her, even tried to cut off her fingers.
Gonzales faces multiple felony charges.
